- Aki retired in 1997 as European president of pharmaceutical giant Bristol-Myers Squibb to establish RvR Associates, a private investment firm specializing in health and related matters. He joined inventages in 2004 to head the New Zealand office.
- Aki is well known in the Australian and New Zealand biotechnology community for his active role on different boards, fund raising, and managing biotech markets. Aki serves as chairman and board member of various companies in the region.
